(…and hey, this is on top of everything else that’s included in your editing membership! )

How long have you been a photographer and what was the main reason you started?

9 years. My interest in portraits came after my 2nd son was born – I really want to capture my boy’s childhood together and create beautiful images of them. I have been hooked ever since.

What (who) are your favorite types of subjects to shoot and why?

I love photographing kids. They are so honest and true and they make the perfect subjects for candid photos.

Canon vs. Nikon (or other) which one are you? Any specific reason why?

Team Nikon, for no other reason than that’s what I started with in school and just got used to their gear.

What is your go to lens?

50mm Sigma ART 1.4

If you could only give 1 piece of advice to a new photographer out there, what would it be?

As with everything, you only get better with practice. Only compare your growth with yourself and you will be amazed at how much you can learn when you stick with it!

If I gave you $1000 right now (or maybe more) to spend on photography gear, what would you buy?

I have always wanted a 70-200mm telephoto lens, but have never been able to justify buying one since I prefer to use shorter lenses with lifestyle photography.

Do you have any secret tips for getting people to loosen up/smile during a shoot?

Demonstrate. If you ask them to do something, you do it first. Want them to do something uncomfortable? Then be the example and show them that they don’t need to feel awkward because you did it first. Having a few Dad jokes up your sleeve also helps 😉

Who is your inspiration?

My kids. They inspire me to work hard not only for them, but for me. They make me want to be a better person in all aspects of life and I aim to show them to never give up, even when faced with hardships. They are the driving forces with just about everything that I do in life & business.

If you could photograph any person (dead or alive) who would that be?

My grandpa. He passes when I was very young and only have vague memories of him. I would love to take photos of him AND with him so I’d have something to remember him by.

Two of the Lightroom tutorials included from Heather Ford! These tutorials are all about bringing out color and vibrancy in children’s photography.
