Family and Child Photography in the Phoenix Area
This fall I had the opportunity to photograph this sweet family of five again! The last time I took pictures for the five of them, their youngest was just a sweet little newborn (you can see those cute baby pics here!) It was so fun to see them again and how big the kids had all grown. There was so much love, smiles and expression in their photos. It was hard for me to choose just a few to feature.
The Style: Contemporary
I always consult with the families on the type of look they are hoping to achieve with their family photos. While many times I shoot in the desert, to capture that classic Arizona look, I know many other spots in Phoenix to get drastically different family portrait backgrounds. For this session, we went with the style of contemporary or urban. I tired to capture a more industrial look finding aquas to accent the pictures. This style is fun and upbeat and a cool choice for a family portrait backdrop!
The Location
To achieve this style, we had to find an area that wasn’t covered with cactus and mountain ranges. We headed to downtown Mesa on what ended up being a drizzly afternoon. The covering from the buildings and the break in the rain kept us dry as we found some pretty contemporary areas for fun urban style portraits! The Mesa Arts Center, which is right in the middle of downtown, is full of neat staircases, walls and angles for this type of look.
If you are looking for portraits taken in a fun urban setting, contact me today to discuss dates and location. Mesa is a neat spot of this type of shot, but I know others too! I am now scheduling custom family and child shoots through the summer. Emily@cozyclicks.com
