This photo session has been in the back of my brain for a few years now. A couple years ago I had a request for a similar session where a little girl was dressed up in mommy’s wedding dress. I was so in love with the idea and the photos that I couldn’t wait to try it on my girls. At the time my daughter was far too young and small to take photos with my wedding gown on. I anxiously waited for my oldest to get just a little bigger. Fast forward to today and at four years old, I thought she was the perfect age to play dress up in the gown. It’s very fitting since daily she is dressed up in one of the Disney princess dresses. I think she enjoyed playing dress up in my dress and veil even more than her Elsa costume! This was exciting for her and even Daddy wanted to jump in for a few shots.
My intent is to create a photo book out of the images to give to her when she gets married. I was able to capture so many images that they are all becoming favorites of mine quickly and will fill up the photo album. Here are just a few of my favorite shots (and when I say a few, I mean quite a lot:) ) I love being able to do special projects with my children and since I have two daughters, I know that I will be trying another version of this in another year or two.
I know this idea isn’t for everyone, but we sure had a lot of fun and she sure is cute! I love all the comments from?those of you who visit my blog! Let me know what you think below…I’d love to hear!

Just in case you wondered what it originally looked like….here is me over ten years ago on my wedding day in Vegas! Who would have guessed back then that in ten years I would have four kids ( 2 of them girls) and would be recreating a wedding day dress up! It’s pretty cool:)
These images are so lovely! And they’re just fun, too. All I could think of was how much fun it will be to show some of these at her wedding reception for real when she grows up! I will never understand why people want to dim the light of others! Thanks for sharing this information… that was brave, too!
Oh my!!! Hope you keep this dress for her to wear, that would make these even more special when she ties the knot. So ethereal and magical!
Love the creamy skin tones, hope you share that with us sometime.
Keep doing what you do, it’s magnificent!
Thanks so much Tina! I actually do still have the dress- I used it a couple years later with my youngest daughter in a somewhat similar kinda shoot:) -Emily
This is the sweetest child’s session I have ever seen! Pulled at my heart strings. STUNNING images on top of that. Well done!
These are so fantastic and I love all of them! She is just precious and will cherish these photos. I hope you blow one of them up huge for her own wedding day!
The wedding dress is a lovely idea! The portrait session is fabulous and so sweet.
STOP IT!!! These are amazing! You should definitely enter some of these in an image competition!! NAPCP had one going on right now if you’re a member!
This is such an awesome idea! Your daughter is precious – she listens and takes direction so well. Very natural in front of the camera. I am sure one day she will be a beautiful bride when Dad walks her down the aisle. Too cute!!
Very interesting idea! The photos are great and very very well edited!
Good job !!
Your beautiful children’s photography is always wonderful but these images are off the charts. I think that creating an album to give to your daughter when she gets married is just brilliant. The Phoenix lighting is so soft and pretty…I love how you backlit the images.
