Family, Child and Maternity Session in Central Phoenix

The Location: Papago Park

This location is by far one of the most requested areas for family photos in the Phoenix area.  It is characterized by red rocks and desert landscape and of course, is home to the iconic “Hole in the Rock”.  Family, child or maternity sessions at this location focus on the beauty of Phoenix and will sport the popular red rock features of the area.   Near the base of the rock is beautiful desert areas as well as palm trees and a large lake.  This spot is really is the trifecta of desert locations in Phoenix offering mountains, cacti and palm trees.  Take a look at some past child and family sessions at Papago Park here!

The Session

For this particular photo session, we combined three types into one! With mom being 9 months pregnant and their first son celebrating his second birthday, we were able to combine both a maternity session along with two year old portraits.  Of course we had to get some whole family shots in there too!  Two year olds can be tricky to photograph.  They are fun because they give lots of expressions, but often time have their own agenda, especially when they are at a fun location like Papago park.  If you are planning for portraits with your two year old it’s important to keep in mind that they may not always pose and smile at the times you want.  I try my best to take their lead and make it fun and unstressful for the toddler, and always end up getting lots of cute shots!
