Family Photography in Downtown Phoenix

Location Type: Urban

This family photo session was set with an urban background.  Sometime here is Phoenix, we automatically think about mountains or desert for the background, but Downtown Phoenix has A LOT to offer for fun and colorful backdrops for family, child or senior photos.  The downtown area is colorful and full of fun textures and hidden corners.  PLUS there are many shaded areas making it cooler and great for lighting conditions.  Because so much is centrally located, traveling in close vicinity of different areas downtown can give you some pretty different looks.  Notice the difference in the first half of these photos compared to the bottom half.  These two locations are just blocks apart!

The Wardrobe

If the location choice you select for you family photos is very colorful, it is best to choose clothing colors that are more neutral.  Let the environment show off its natural colors and don’t try to compete with it.  Notice with this family , a lot of dark grey, cream and blacks with a subtle light pink in the mix.  This was the perfect clothing color choice for the area.  If you are unsure what to wear for your family photos, come check out this article here.

Session Type: Family

Family photos are one of the four main types of photography that I shoot.  Usually with a family session, I will also try to incorporate some shots of the kids and/or just the adults.  This will give you variety in your session and lots to choose from!  Doesn’t this family look fantastic!
