The Session: Extended Family

For this Phoenix area family photo shoot, we included not just mom, dad and the kids, but also the grandparents and uncles! Extended family photos are a great way to capture all members of the family together.  Next time you plan your family pictures, think about asking grandma and grandpa to come along  or maybe that special aunt or uncle your children love so much!

The Location

Scottsdale, Arizona is a great city for family photos.  There are  a lot of options in the area, but this particular photo session took place at DC Ranch Marketplace.  This is a favorite photo location by many.   It’s easy to see why.  DC Ranch Marketplace offers some desert areas, along with green grass.  There is also a fun tunnel, bridge and lots of cool buildings and architecture to really give lots of verity in your photos!  Everything is also pretty centrally located, so there isn’t a lot of walking to get from one spot to another.  To see more examples for DC Ranch Marketplace visit here.  And for a more deserty Scottsdale photo location, see here.

The Shots!

With every type of photo session, I always try to include some classically posed photos.  Everyone always loves at least one shot with everyone looking and smiling at the camera.  However, sometime with kids, especially toddlers, some times that doesn’t always work.  To keep things fun and as unstressful possible for your shoot, I’ll help guide you through some fun candid moments that also look great for family portraits!

So if you have family visiting form out of town, think about scheduling a family photo session to remember their visit!  Or maybe all of you live right here in Phoenix, but you’ve never thought to have grandpa and grandma included in the photos.  Do that this year!
