Maternity Sessions

Maternity photo sessions are fun and exciting.  There is a lot of anticipation around having a new little person and it’s important to try to document this time.  So what can you expect at your maternity photo shot?  Well, some people choose to have photo taken of just themselves, really focusing on that beautiful belly.  Others may want to incorporate the new dad to be into the photos too.  and what about if you already have kids?  Bring them along! A maternity session can also be a family session, including all family members.  Your maternity session is unique to you.

The Location

This maternity photo session was taken at Scorpion Gulch, a beautiful desert location in Central Phoenix.  This spot is know for the old trading post that looks like a little stone hut.  The texture there is really neat for photos.  Beyond that though it lots of open desert, cactus and of course South Mountain in the background.  All those things combines makes Scorpion Gulch a fantastic spot for maternity or family photos!

Time Of Day

Most of my session take place about an hour before the sun goes down.  Especially at this location.  The reason for this is the when working with natural light, you don;t want you  pictures to have heavy harsh shadows and look unflattering.  Working in the evening will help ensure that your photos turn out looking spectacular! (It can also help with the heat in some of our warmer months here!)
