Describe your photography journey
I’ve slowly but steadily been working on improving my portrait photography skills.
What (or who) was your inspiration for wanting to get into photography?
My mom was the one who encouraged me to pursue photography, she saw potential and gave me a push in the right direction.
What type of photography do you enjoy the most and why?
I love portrait photography because you have an opportunity to preserve memories of people and show them how wonderful they are.
Where do you see yourself as a photographer in the next 5 years?
In 5 years I would like to be someone that is sought after in my area as a portrait photographer.
What is one piece of advice you would give to a brand new photographer?
Practice, don’t quit when it feels discouraging because those most difficult times usually come before a breakthrough.
Describe how you find inspiration in your work.
I love watching others learning and growing, being part of Emily’s groups and walking through her courses and blog. Sometimes I just need to go for a walk, nature and fresh air also bring life to my photography journey.
What tips do you have that would help others that are looking to advance their portrait photography skills?
Invest in yourself, take time to learn from gifted photographers that you admire as you learn from their teachings you will also learn how to be uniquely your own.
Tell us a little bit about the gear you use.
I quite like my Canon T5i, funny I most like one of my kit lenses as a primary one but I am learning to use a few others that I’ve invested in such as a 50mm, 85mm and 35mm.
How would you describe your style?
I love rich colors and highlighting my subjects. Not sure what you would call that style but I am ever evolving.
Do you have any funny or embarrassing moments to share about a time when you were out shooting?
Oh I almost fall down every time I go out when I’m walking backwards from my subject to get the distance I’m looking for.
