Just look for a moment at how dreamy some of these photos are from Monika Mochaupt! Monika is a student in my Perfect Portrait eCourse and takes both gorgeous baby portraits and outdoor photos! I love her use of color and style! Come take a look at her feature and hear what advice she has for YOU as a photographer!
Describe your photography journey.
I bought my first camera Nikon D5600 in April 2018. I was using kit lens 18-55 mm for a while but soon realized I needed something better so I bought 50mm 1.8 lens. I really liked newborn photos and I wanted to try it so I did a newborn training in August 2018. In September I bought my first good lens from Tamron (24-70mm 2.8) and I started taking newborn photos. I’d love to also get better in taking photos of families as I looove photographing people 🙂

What (or who) was your inspiration for wanting to get into photography?
I’d love to have my own business one day so I thought why not to try photography. I love trying new things in my life so I decided to have a go.
What type of photography do you enjoy the most and why?
I love taking photos of people, this is definitely my favorite thing! I love capturing emotions, photograph natural poses. At the moment I enjoy photographing families the most event though I have done only a few sessions so far.

Where do you see yourself as a photographer in the next 5 years?
I’d love my skills and photos to improve and look really, really good and I’d love to have a photography business.
What is one piece of advice you would give to a brand new photographer?
To practice a lot, do model calls if you have to and practice (that’s what I’m doing now) 🙂

Tell us a little bit about the gear you use.
Camera Nikon D5600, Lenses Tamron 24-70mm F 2.8 and Nikor 50mm F 1.8 (I’m planning to buy full frame camera NIKON D750 and Lens 135mm 2.0-this is my goal)
Do you have any funny or embarrassing moments to share about a time when you were out shooting?
Not yet hehe. I suppose I haven’t been doing photography long enough 🙂

Describe how you find inspiration in your work.
I always find inspiration by looking at photos of other photographers I admire. I dream and hope I will be as good as them one day 🙂 Love reading blogs, watching YouTube about photography.

What tips do you have that would help others that are looking to advance their portrait photography skills?
I think it is very important to invest in yourself! If you struggle, invest in a good course which will help you to move forward. Sometimes it takes to much time to search for info how to do something (especially Photoshop)and it is worth to buy a “good courses” (Cozy Clicks for example) to find quick answer-you save your time which is very valuable and can progress quicker!

How would you describe your style?
I think I’m still trying to find my style 🙂 I’d love my photos to look like painting with beautiful blurred background and sharp/crisp main object.
