My photography journey is not easy. I got my first camera from my father when I was 14 year old. It was a very simple camera but it opened a whole new world for me. I fell in love with photography. I have several higher education diplomas from Europe and USA. I have worked as a teacher, translator, editor, and nurse. However my passion for photography continued and last year I was able to open a new chapter in my life as a professional photographer. I started my own company
VeraD Photography. I am constantly learning and improving my skills. Photography is my life, it brings happiness and meaning to my life.
This is a very difficult question because I couldn’t name something in particular. Life itself is my inspiration; family, nature, people. However I remember that my interest with photography started from old black and white photos of my ancestors. I was amazed that I can see someone who lived a hundred years ago and see their smile, eyes, and emotion. It seemed that photos are able to preserve moments of life. Photos keep memories and I am trying to create them.
I like a variety of photography but currently my focus is on family and sport photography. I like taking pictures of families, to show connections, love, and happiness. Sport photography amazed me because it allows me to stop the special moment and capture very strong emotions.
I see myself still very passionate about photography. I would like to expand my horizons and maybe start doing travel photography to be able to explore the world and take photos of people from different cultural backgrounds.
Work. You need to work really hard to achieve good results. Talent means a lot, but only work ensures professionalism and consistent high quality results.
Yes, I had a photoshoot of a girl with snakes. I am terrified of snakes myself but I overcame this fear to take pictures. We were shooting in the local park by the lake. One man was fishing and when he saw several snakes on the girls neck, he got really scared and ran away.
Inspiration comes from life itself – nature, people, cities. I think I am constantly looking for the perfect picture even when I don’t have my camera. I also find inspiration in books, art work and stories I want to tell about people life.
The main goal for me in the portrait is to show personality and emotion. I am not focusing on the perfect posing but trying to make unique and live portrait. I do photo session fun and relaxing. Also you need to study all the time. Learn from other photographers. take classes, read books, never stop improving. For me
Emily Supiot is very valuable resource, I have learned a lot from her.
Thank you, Emily. You absolutely need to know your camera in order to create high quality photos. Study, practice, enjoy, and you will create outstanding photos.
