This is me.I don’t have a lot of photos of myself. Do you?
Â
I was inspired by a recent client who told me that photos were so important to her because growing up her mom was never in any…like seriously, ZERO. She said her mom always had an excuse (too fat, no make up, too old, YOU fill in the blank here) Can you relate to that? I feel like I sure could. This client wanted to make sure that her kids had pictures of HER, no matter what she looked or felt like.Â
I know the reasons why I’m not in front of the camera more (let’s see if they’re the same reasons as you):?
#1: I’m 40 now, and I think I have finally come to realization that my wrinkles are not going away anytime soon.?
#2: With 4 kids, it’s a win if I find time to take a shower in a day, let alone put on makeup or do my hair.?
#3 I’m in yoga pants and tank tops most of the time. I’d like to think I have style- but comfort ALWAYS wins.?
Â
BUT…I know despite all the excuses that I could give, my kids don’t care about all that and I want to make sure that I’m in photos too! I spend so much time documenting them growing up I forget that I AM ALSO part of their growing up.Â
So, My question to all you photographers who are always behind the camera: when is the last time you jumped on the other side of that lens?
You need to remember that photos are memories and just don’t document the way you look, but the time spent with people you love, your feelings and emotions. (I’m trying to get better at that)?
I encourage YOU to get in front of the camera today with someone you love?

This is so true, I hardly have any pictures with my children, I will work to rectify it. Thank you for pointing this out 🙂
