Ahwatukee Concerts in the Park 2014 |Phoenix Family and Child Photographer

This past Sunday, April 6, 2014 was the first in the semi annual Concerts in the Park series at Desert Foothills Park in Ahwatukee.   It is a fantastic event put on by Randy Fitch and The Fitch Group. If you were not there, then you were one of the few in Ahwatukee not to attend.  Well before the start time of 5:00 the streets were lined up with cars of people ready to enjoy some music, food and this beautiful Phoenix weather. I was there ready to document this fun and free event.  You probably saw me walking around snapping some of these shots.  I’ll be there next weekend too-I’m the one with the big camera and the even bigger belly at 8 months pregnant.  If you missed it, don’t worry  this series lasts all month beginning at 5:00 each Sunday in April at Desert Foothills Park.  Make sure you say hi if you see me there this Sunday!

The band The Real Thing performed this last weekend and completely rocked it!  They were full of energy  and covered songs from many different genres and decades.  I loved hearing there versions of popular Maroon 5 and Bruno Mars songs.  After talking to many people in the crowd throughout the evening, it was obvious that they gave their stamp of approval for The Real Thing.

Many people there brought picnics and beverages to last through the evening.  But if you didn’t, there is always the concession stand full of goodies to snack on throughout the evening.  From the looks of things cotton candy was by far the most popular choice.

As the evening progressed, the park was packed with families hanging out, dancing, mingling and just having a great time.  Kids were on scooters and playing baseball.  A few of the kids turned the sprinklers on and had a great time running through them while hearing the music.  It was really a fantastic evening overall!  Don’t forget to check it out this Sunday night at Deseret Foothills Park or you can check out www.theconcertsinthepark.com for more info! See you there! -Emily
