For a long time I had been thinking about creating a photography project for my children that they would remember for a long time. I had an idea in my head of a simple fairy tale that I wanted to make into a book. I was hoping to be able to create it with them as the stars. Now, they don’t really love having their pictures taken and they are all pretty young ( all 4 or under) so I knew this would be a tricky task. I tried to make it fun for them by telling them my idea for a story and having them be a part in picking out their costumes. I also didn’t force them to do the session all in one take, so it actually took me a few times to get the shots I was looking for. Parts of the story were a little abstract, so I was really impressed at what a good little actor my son was. He loved seeing the after pictures of him holding the fairies as he knew that they weren’t really there when the picture was taken. “How did you do that?” he innocently asked. As I wanted to make it a good experience for them, I didn’t push them to do an additional session, so I didn’t quite get every shot I envisioned, but pretty close. My husband also played a big behind the scenes role in this trying to keep three little kids on track:) Here are a few pages from my fairy tale book to them. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do:) This session was also nominated on www.inspiremebaby.com. I’d love if you’d stop by there and vote for me:)
