Photography for Families and Children in the Phoenix Area

Photo Location: Scorpion Gulch

This photo session was taken at one of my favorite Phoenix area locations for family photography.  Characterized by old stone buildings and open desert, this location really have an old west desert feel.  This spot is right near South Mountain which showcases some beautiful mountain ranges, especially at sunset.  The stone and walls of Scorpion Gulch make from some pretty neat and unusual backdrops for family portraits.  You can look here to see more examples from Scorpion Gulch.

Wardrobe

Every so often I like to feature family sessions are really point out the style and color s of clothing they chose for their session.  This really helps with the planning of your wardrobe when it is time for your family pictures.  I love the color scheme of this family’s outfits.  Here is a perfect example of coordinating for your family portraits.  Notice that they have a consistent color scheme of maroon and blue, but not everyone is wearing the same solid color.  There is a great mix of both solids and patterns among the clothing.  If you look closer a the smaller details, they accent well with cream colored sweaters, jackets, glasses and jewelry.  It’s these extra little details that can really make your portraits stand out!  Interested in seeing more ideas for what to wear for your family photos?  See another well coordinated family here.

Type of Photo Session: Family

I often have clients ask me what the difference is between different types of photo sessions.  With my pricing structure, there really is no difference.  Families (up to 5 people) are considered a traditional family sessions, however, if you;d like some individual shots of your children taken during our time or some pictures with you and your spouse, I will accommodate!  If your focus is on just all members of your family or just your children, I can do that too.
