This family session wasn’t your typical family portrait session, because this family wasn’t your typical family.  With seven kids, they had me beat!  This fun loving family was able to capture some traditional shots as well as some candid moments with a few fun shots thrown in the mix too!

Location: Scorpion Gulch

As one of my top 10 locations for family portraits, this one is always a winner! Scorpion Gulch is characterized by its old brick buildings that have a strong Southwest feel.  Directly across the street is wide open desert which is beautiful at sunset.  it is also right at the base of South Mountain allowing for shots to be taken with mountain views.  This location gives great variety to any photo session.  To see more sessions from Scorpion Gulch, check out here and here!

Clothing

This can be one of the most stressful parts about planning for your photo session- especially when you have a lot of people you are trying to coordinate- but I’m here to help you!

Take a look at how nicely this family chose their wardrobe.  It’s subtle and simple with neutral colors weaving throughout everyone.

While it might sounds easy to just put everyone in the same thing or same solid color, that typically won’t work and doesn’t look great as it blends everyone together.  Here we see outfits that are solid paired next to simple patterned outfits.  For more tips on what you should wear for your photo session you can read What To Wear For Your Photo Shoot.
