In the market for a new lens? You might be thinking about purchasing a 50mm 1.4
But before you make the decision to drop that kind of money (lenses are expensive, right?) You want to make sure it’s right for you. Let’s see if it is.
Clarity
This lens is like it’s sister, the 50mm 1.8 in the sense that the clarity of the photos is pretty spot on. Remember how it felt when you went from a kit lens to the 50mm 1.8. It will feel the same way going from the 1.8 to the 1.4 The sharpness in your photos will look spot on! (Never had the 50mm 1.8, then you’ll really love the sharpness of this one at a fraction of the cost!)

Versatility
With a 50mm, you have the ability to get some great variety in your photos. You can back up and get it the full landscape of the location you’re at, or you can get in really close and capture some close up shots and details of your subjects. This lens will give you some great variety in your portrait session.

Price
While this lens is more money than the 50mm 1.8, it is still an affordable lens for the quality of photos you will be able to take. ( It?s also much less money than my all time favorite lens, the 135mm 2.0- and that good price, makes it pretty attractive)

Lightweight
This lens is small and very lightweight. No lugging around a big heavy lens. That’s that.

Speed
This lens focuses pretty quickly and that is important if you’re working with young kids that move around a lot.

Compatibility
This lens will work on both full frame and crop sensor camera. So if you’re shooting with a Canon rebel series, this lens is a great addition to your camera!

Overall, I would recommend this as a lens to add to your collection. I own and use this lens, and while it’s honestly not my number one, it’s definitely a good one to have in your bag of tricks.
