Wanna learn how to create a sunset in Photoshop? You are in the right place! Sometimes we want those golden sunsets and that dreamy light in our photos, but it doesn’t always translate in camera. A lot of times the sky blows out and just appear white in your image, or maybe it’s overcast (or not even truly sunset) Either way you can still create the look of a sunet inside of Photoshop!
Pull up your image in to Photoshop. Create a new blank layer by going to the top bar and selecting Layer>new>layer This will create a new layer in your adjustment panel.
Select a great sunset color (bottom left hand side of the tool bar), probably and orange or yellow will to the trick. Start with a darker shade.
With a large soft brush click over the area you want your sunset to appear one time.
Go back to the foreground color and click on that again. This time choose a color from that same color pallete, but this time one that is slightly lighter. Decrease the size of your brush slightly and click directly over the first area you clicked on earlier. You will repeat this same process again 1 or 2 more times each time with a slightly lighter shade of color and a slighter smaller brush.
Change the blend mode of that sunset layer to “screen” (you can also play around with some of the other blend modes and see how it looks!) Adjust the opacity to your liking.
And there you have it! And beautiful created sunset. Still confused? Make sure to watch the video. I think it’ll help you make better sense of each of the different steps.
I always LOVE seeing what you create so make sure to share with me! Post your sunset photo over in the Cozy Clicks Community Group on Facebook or tag me in your image if you post in on IG (@cozyclicks) I wanna see what you came up with!!
